Hard to tell because he is is very versatile so he’s able to compose in nearly any style. As far as I know he studied composition with emphasis on both electronic and ethnic music. In my opinion some of his compositions tend to be ‘minimalistic’ in a positive manner, generally I would say that his style could best be described as ‘modern piano’. Sometimes his music sounds a bit like jazz, sometimes more like classic or pop. Whatever, it’s great music.

This piece served as inspiration for “Don’t Leave Me This Way” If you listen to this piece and that song, you can clearly hear it.

la musica ritorna sempre, mai uguale a se stessa… la percezione che ancora oggi ho ascoltando la sua musica è quella di un genio che cerca di comunicare attraverso i suoni.

Aleguit,I am not english speaker either,no problem with synthax as long as we can communicate.there is also “Art of Noise”.you may find in their music some similar melodies.Take care and keep listening to good music.

i’m only curious to know where he tooks the phrase of these passages, but it isn’t a crytic for sakamoto that, such as all the artists is ispired from the past and from the past can create new music… the development of the Satie’s phrase is without doubt original and emotional ;)

PS: Excuse me for grammar’s errors but i’m not english ;)

I agree that Yiruma is not as good as Ryuichi Sakamoto now, but people ! Yiruma will develop his skills as time passes and hopefully he will compose better songs then previous ones like kiss the rain or river flows in you, after all hes Korea’s # 1 pianist : )

  22. christopeal Says:

Eric Satie has been an inspiration for neo classic pianist since the world discovered this french genius….So Aleguit, you will find other Satie’s phrases in many 20th and new century composers, and this takes nothing away from the genius of Sakamoto whos probably the most prolefic composer of the last 30 years or so.

  23. aichetta Says:

    è bellissimo

  24. aleguit Says:

here ( 0:58 ) and Here ( 1.13 ) he take “the idea” from another piece… but now i don’t remember from where

  25. EnfantTerrible7 Says:

I agree, but don’t get me wrong.. Yiruma is a fantastic pianist, but Mr. Sakamoto is a genius.
